FYI, guys from low taxation areas that might be puzzled by the final amount of their room reservation.
There is a 16% tax on rooms at Sundance plus $50 of the room rate is non-refundable. WAIT - before the rest of you out-of-staters ask, I will tell you what I found out.
There is an 11% sales tax + a 5% Environmental Impact Fee. The 5% Environmental Impact Fee stays to pay for Environmental work in and around the Sundance Resort. From what I hear, they have done some really good things with the money. Their website shows that they have made some awesome changes to the area since I was cutting class to go skiing. It is not just a little local ski hill anymore. This is world class stuff. Check out their website http://www.sundanceresort.com/ As a devoted Conde Nast Traveler subscriber, I was impressed at the Tree Rooms ranking (old news for those of you that are still locals). I have fond memories of being taken to The Tree Room for an excellent dinner before one of our formal dances.
Don, thanks again for hooking us up with Sundance. The rooms sound really nice. I am sure that everything will be beautiful.

Dave Johnson can sign up as a guest. Has he tried that route?

Don has reserved the picnic area but Kip has been checking in on other sites. If he is responsible for the picnic we may want Kip to determine the site. I think having it closer to Provo would be better. It is hard to break away when we are in town...and being close to Provo would make it more convenient. Also bathroom facilities, playgroud or fields if people bring their families...does the site provide alternative places for activities for other family members?

I was looking through our list of class mates that haven't responded yet. I am sure that we can find more of them.

this past week I have made some calls and have had some of the best trip's down memory lane with many of you! Nancy Higgins, Shauna H. George, Ladawn Hood, Jenifer Hilliam, Genice Allen and Many More. If all of you would see if you could Locate just one Missing Person that would be 50 more names! Thank's for all the names and People you have found. we are really getting a lot of action. Keep it up!

To Janet and anyone else interested in contacting people, Carolee mentioned that there was a handwritten and photocopied list of phone numbers that were used to contact people for the 20-year reunion. I have a copy of that list. Of course, it's ten years old, and not all the names have numbers by them, but I've had some luck in calling people on that list. I don't have the time or the money to call everyone on the list myself, so I'd be happy to let people take sections if they want to help contact people. Let me know if you're interested.

When everyone is finding people to come to the reunion, be sure to ask if people are willing to help out with the planning. Get names and contact info. We need people to decorate, to help with a program, to make nametags, etc, etc. It doesn't have to be a huge task if everyone helps.

I am very excited to see some of my old friends and will gladly spread the word, I think it will be great to talk about "the olden days" as my kids call them. I just got hooked up on facebook and found some people and will forward the reunion website. I am glad you all are putting this together and I look forward to seeing you all..

If you are trying to locate someone in particular, try facebook or even google his name. It is amazing what information is on the internet. Try those sources as well.

Yeah, but it's so much easier if someone finds him for me.

You guys have got to look through your yearbooks and read what people wrote to you. If you are willing to embarras your friends post what they said way back then. I have been lauughing til I cried and will take the time to post a couple.

Got hold of Duane Woolsey yesterday. He should be signing up soon.

NOTE: The 20 year had stop and go scheduling. We said we were having one, then not, then we were having one. I think this will continue to grow. This should be a good month to press hard. We have had that kind of history if you remember we didn't sign up for the Senior Dinner Dance until two days before. Brent Lindstrom was on the verge of canceling it and we rallied and had a great turn out in SLC. I had a pretty good date that night, real cutie.

From John Marrott:

Nikki,

It's really going to be different now that we are out of school. But I have really appreciated you giving me your SHIRTS AND UNDERWEAR since I can't afford any with my family situation the way it is. But really thanks for being my friend. That is what is most important.

Your friend,

John Marrott

John and I were roommates at Cedar City. It was a heck of a ride. John became the most famous freshman on campus. He did so many outrageous things that people were drawn to him. I know he is now an actor and he should be doing those college movies of his life. They would break the box office.

I know we're all busy with life and trying to find missing classmates for the reunion, but it would be interesting if someone could put together a name list of all Provo High teachers, administrators, and other memorable staff members (was there a favorite janitor? lol) from 1977 thru 79...and where they are now, retired, obituary, etc. Sort of a take off on or expansion of the Favorite Teacher Poll. I see the Timpview79.com site has registered a profile and photo of at least one retired teacher who was there in 1979. For example:

Ronald Last, Provo High Principal, passed away in 1991
Patrick Shane, BYU Women's Cross-Country Coach for the last 26 years.

Also, the Timpview site posted the 1979 senior yearbook photos of every student at the beginning of each profile...including Provo High grads who sign up there as a guest. Can we do that here? Seeing the senior photo may be the only way we can remember some of our classmates...especially as we've all changed in 30 years.

Thanks all,
Neil

Lisa Wardle (Hoswell)

Hey, I was just emailing Wayne about adding another Timpview guy to our site as a guest when I had an idea (ouch).
Some of the Timpview guys might be able to help locate some of our elusive classmates. We might be able to return the favor for them. I don't know if we can link the websites or just send email updates via the webmasters, but every little bit helps.

04/23/09 12:23 PM #69

Lisa Wardle (Hoswell)

As a result of activating the 'Mom Network' (yup, she still lives in the area) and getting some tips from Timpview guys, I believe that I have got word to the following missing classmates about this website:

Kathy Barney
Roylance Boulter
Lisa Gatenby
Cecilia Hone
LaDawn Hood
Ja Nay Johnson
Celya LaFevre
Darlene Sandoval
Chris Wilcox
Kelly Pinegar

I will work on some more.

Wayne, Webmaster, anybody?
I am getting reports that people have tried multiple times to join the site and are not getting any response. I am sure that you are doing the best that you can, working on your own time, to give us this opportunity to connect. We really appreciate you efforts and do not expect immediate responses.
If you could reply here so we understood what the requirements/schedule was for adding new people, we could pass that information along and avoid some frustration.
If there are people that simply will not be allowed to join the site, please let us know what your criteria is so that we don't encourage these people to join. In some cases, the frustration level is very high right now. I know that we all want this to be a positive experience. Thanks again for your time and attention.

Lisa,

Thanks for making contact. I Know that a lot of us keep contacting Class Mates that should be easy to find. Many of them aren't signing up because they don't want to Participate. I don't think that we should get discouraged, we need to keep inviting and contacting them. Maybe they will get so many calls that they will join in. So everyone keep up the great Work. Hopefully the Problem's with signing up can get resolved and they will all jump on!

Janet

In response to Lisa Wardle Hoswell's comment above, I want to suggest that Kip Clark be made an admin on your site. (I'm a TVHS guest, by the way.) Kip could help Wayne manage the guest-profile requests, and he could also add your yearbook photos which, I'm told, have all been scanned and are just sitting out there ready to be added.

I also like the idea of TVHS and PHS helping each other find people. I have a couple of leads from TVHS classmates here:

----
David,

I have some info on David Cannon, but not his email. He is a fellow Stanford alum (MS '88) and apparently still in Mountain View, California, according to the alumni listing. A google search came up with this address and phone number:
(650) 567-9405 333 N Rengstorff Ave,Mountain View, CA 94043

I don't know how to get this to the Provo High people, perhaps you can send it over to them?

David Lundberg
----
Dave;

Here’s 66 of them right here!

...

Bryan Chapman
----

I may get others, too, which I'll pass on to you here when I do.

Two more things:

According to Karen Felt Allen, Gordon Hoffheins owns at least one of the Bajios restaurants in the Provo area. He is also on Facebook.

Also, I am in touch with Valerie Weaver in California and am trying to convince her to join your site.

John Thurman too. He didn't have a Year Book Photo and he wanted to sign up. So he needs to be added.

If people do not what to get involved in this Reunion, I would like to respect their wishes. We should try not to annoy people if they have already been contacted and have chosen not to participate.

Is there a way that we can note that a person has been located, but does not want to participate at this time?

They might change their minds for the 35th reunion. The possibility should be left open to them.

Janet, thanks for following up with people.

In answer to Lisa Wardle's question about those who don't wish to be contacted, those with admin status can edit the notes box for a classmate's profile, and that information can then be downloaded for (on) the whole class as an Excel spreadsheet which you could then filter on non-blank records for the notes field. This will allow you to view all the classmates for whom there is a note. Either that or you could just consult each student's profile on the site as an admin user.

Another idea might be to simply enter a code word ("Do Not Contact", for example) in the City field for the profiles of those who don't wish to participate and do not want to be contacted. That way, everyone who looked at that profile (admin status or not) would know to leave that person alone.
