What haven't I done since high school?
*No hangovers except when it comes to overdosing Red Vines (snack of choice on road trips to Boston and Utah). Smoking? so over-rated--didn't happen, Indecent exposure....well not that I can recall although it is up for discussion (see photo below).

What actually happened....I graduated from BYU with my teaching degree and spent 4 years teaching at Vineyard Elementary in Orem. Brent graduated from BYU and got a job with General Dynamics in San Diego. We spent 10 years there. Our close encounter of watching the teenagers at the local high school sent us to the mid-west before our 12 year old entered jr. high. We lived in Michigan for 2 years-Brent working for Allied Signal, Wisconsin for 2 years Brent working for Eaton Corporation and the Boston area Brent working for Axcelis for 4 years. After 911 the job market in Boston was terrible so we ended up back in Rochester Hills Michigan Brent working for Continental Teves and then recently changed to SPX solutions as H.R. VP. Consequently we live in the area where many of the executives live for the Big 3 car companies. As the economy tanked in the car Capital of Detroit, Michigan, we ended up moving back to New England. WE LOVE IT HERE! It's like stepping back in time and so we returned to the Georgetown area in 2011.

Two of our daughters are married and one is currently serving a mission in the Arizona, Phoenix mission. We have two of the most delightful grandbabies. It's been a life of learning and remembering what is most important.

It's been fun to make new friends that span the US. We've learned there are so many great people in the world. We've lived outside of Utah longer than we lived has changed our view of what is important--most the time we take for granted what we grew up with....we realize it was a gift. We love to come back to Utah and visit family and friends often. WE hope to see each of you in July.

School Story:

The time we were called into the principals office because of a "hair-raising" experience at the American Fork game. (Go Laury)

The time Todd Horsley decided to white wash the bathrooms for spirit week. Or better yet, the time Todd played Stevie Wonder and caused quite a stir back stage.

Assembly when Stevie Wonder (Todd Horsley) made an appearance on the Johnny Carson show and ran into the twins back stage (Claire & Robyn). The rest is history!

I was lucky enough to know Margie.  She lived in my ward for several years.  When she was 30 she began her fight as a quadriplegic.  Her parents went to great length to keep her muscles from weakening and continued to find ways to help her communicate and live life to the fullest.  Her husband left her and battles continued with divorce, lawsuits reguarding the medication that caused her brain bleed.  She was a fighter and spent a lot of years convincing the courts she could care for her children.  Her parents were the most dedicated parents I have ever witnessed.  Every chance I got to see Margie she taught me so much!  She was brilliant yet her body didn’t always cooperate.  She had some amazing ways to communicate!  She could point 1/2/3 finger that would let one know where to begin in the alphabet.  1/ started with a-h... one would begin going through the alphabet and she would blink when one got to the letter she was trying to spell out!  It took time for this to happen but she was quick and very patient especially with someone like me!  I loved spending time with her.  When her mom and dad decided the warmer climate would be better for Margie they moved to St George.  Margie had her own place next to her parents.  Her children spent a lot of time with Margie!  I was able to visit her in St George and felt a deep bond to Margie!  She was a woman who never gave up.  She later received a speaking computer that allowed her to program responses.  She had a calling in church to introduce the Sunday lessons.  Her computer would communicate what she was willing to say!  It was amazing!  On a personal note, Margie taught me how to communicate with others who had difficulty communicating or speaking.  My sister-in-law was in the hospital and her body wasn’t cooperating.  I could look into her eyes and ask her questions and her eyes could blink the answers.  We could communicate without speaking.  I also gravitate to those in wheelchairs.  I think of Margie every time.  I bend down to eye level and speak to each person rather than the caregivers. I have had rich friendships develop as a result!  Her parents contacted me when Margie passed away!  A little part of me died with her.  So grateful I was lucky enough to know her not only in high school but throughout her journey in life!  We are all connected to the Class of 1979! We are all part of an amazing history that has shaped us into the people we are today!

I grew up with Eric.   I was the only girl on our street and so in grade school and junior high we would meet at the top of the street and play night games. I was more of a tomboy back then but it was so fun to be around these boys who were such great influences. I didn't know at the time great men I was surrounded by, but I do know that each of these young boys were great friends. I was so sad to hear of Eric's Battle of cancer. He is one of the kindest most gentle men In our community!  my mother also received such tender care in her later years when she needed a dentist.  Eric placed the patient above his own needs and strived to make each person feel comfortable and important. I'm so grateful that I was able to grow up with such a great example.  We have truly  been blessed by Eric's compassionate soul.  May his family know they are in our thoughts and prayers!

HEY FRANK....Happy Birthday! Hope it is a good one! Just thinking about some of the high school moments and you had a way of making people laugh without even trying. Hope you continue to keep people on their toes! May you have many many more great years ahead!

As I raised my own teenagers I realized the importance of good friends in high school. So fortunate to grow up with incredible friends who loved me unconditionally, who were great role models and found ways to keep it real, keep it fun, and live without regrets! Thanks to all who made a difference in my life! Your influence has made me a better person and I will be forever grateful.
