Chris Carter
November 26, 1960 to April 27, 2025
Chris Boyd Carter died peacefully surrounded by his family on April 27, 2025 at the age of 64. Chris was born on November 26, 1960 to Boyd Max and Beth Casper Carter. Chris was raised and educated in Provo, Utah and graduated from Provo High.
Chris spent his entire career with Provo City in the Water Department. He worked his way up and held many positions, ending his career as foreman after 32 years. Chris married Gaylynn Bird on July 10, 1981 in Orem, Utah. They have been married for 44 years. Together they raised one daughter.
As a boy, Chris spent most of his free time with his father. They would go to the mountains, the desert, hunting, fishing, and Sundays with “grandma". Chris also spent a lot of time with his father at the Provo Airport where his dad did mechanical repairs on planes and helicopters. Chris often said how much he loved to snag a ride. Chris and his sisters spent many vacations as a family traveling the western United States and Canada.
Chris had a lifelong love of animals and he and his wife had horses, dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, and goats at various times. They used to ride horses together. Chris and Gaylynn also enjoyed being on a bowling league. One of their favorite pastimes though, was going to Idaho several times a year and "checking out new places."
Chris was challenged by many difficult medical issues in his life. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in his late 40's and fought hard and rose above each challenge. He had been cancer free for 15 years before his death.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother Beth and father Boyd. He is survived by his wife Gaylynn Bird, one daughter, Robin Lynn Walker (Scott) (Spring Lake), three grandsons Klayson, Tristyn, and Braxtyn Root; and two sisters Sherri Carter (Riverton) and Ricki Carter (American Fork).
