Wayne,

I have tentatively reserved Sundance for July 1. That is a Weds. evening. the 4th is on Saturday, so i expect most companies would have friday the third as a holiday. that would help for out of towners. there are no dates until August after July 1.

Any idea how many people would attend, what was the number from the 20th ?

and what is your number so we can talk.

Hey Wayne,

Just brainstorming here. I was wondering if people would be interested in a family picnic earlier in the day. Maybe up the South Fork of Provo Canyon? I don't know that we want another big event that requires a lot of planning, but if we simply reserved a place and had people bring their own food, they could just hang out, eat, play some games, throw a frisbee around, or whatever. And it would give families a chance to meet, which I'm assuming the evening event probably wouldn't allow as much. Anyway, just a thought.

Kip,

I think that's a wonderful idea-why not visit the scene of Senior Sluff Day with our children?

Hey guys,
In regards to a picnic, you may want to schedule it on a different day...possibly the following day. Sometimes if there are too many events on the same day, they will pick one over the other and not come to the evening event. Just a thought.

Yes, that's a good point, Carolee. Maybe we should consider another day for the picnic, if we do one. I just think a picnic could be really fun. I often go up South Fork with friends from work or from my ward, along with children, and it's so pleasant up the canyon. We don't do much planning. We just take food, some chairs or blankets to sit on, and some games like bocce (lawn bowling), volleyball, croquet, football, frisbee, etc. And it's just fun to hang out.

Also, if we want to do something more organized than having people bring their own picnic lunch, I suppose we could also do something a bit more coordinated. We could provide sandwiches, chips, and drinks, or some other kind of picnic foods, and let people bring potluck desserts. Of course, if we are going to provide food, we'd need people to commit in advance and to send in money to help cover the cost.

Anyway, just throwing out some ideas.

Kip

Hey, This is Cyndi Crabbe (Alldredge) here. I was really surprised at those of our classmates who have passed. Does anyone know the circumstances of those losses? It was just a shock to see any names there and especially the years. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Guys, greetings from the Great White North. Wayne, thanks for creating this forum.
As some of you may have heard, my brother Brent died in August. He was two years behind us at PHS. You may remember him as part of the drumline and on the Football team.
Although I took stacks of pictures and slides while I was on the Yearbook & Newspapers staff, I did not keep many. If anyone has pictures of Brent from High School, I would really appreciate a copy. His two daughters are also very interested in hearing stories about his younger (OK, wilder) days. Feel free to email me with anything at hoswelll@hotmail.com
Thanks, hope to see you soon. I am working on getting a trip back to Utah planned so that I can attend the Reunion. Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help.

I agree with Todd Satterfield. We should invite Timpview's Class of 1979 to our PHS Reunion. C'mon...life's too short and many of us maintained lifelong friendships with our common Sophomore class members. Any thoughts?

Kip Clark

I don't have any problems with inviting Timpview alumni. I probably haven't kept in touch with Timpview friends as much as some, but I do have a few close friends who I know would like to attend a joint activity. However, my only concern about a joint reunion is the logistics involved. Is the venue we have reserved big enough? If we have a program of some sort (reminiscences, a slide show, etc), would it be a lot more complicated to have two schools involved as opposed to just one? But if some of these issues can be resolved, then I say go ahead with a combined reunion if that's what everyone wants to do.

Hey Provo High 1979 Grads: Bryan Chapman, Timpview's 1979 Reunion Chair, asked me to post an invitation to all of you to join the www.timpview79.com website as a guest. There are ongoing efforts to put together a joint activity. You can go to that website or reach Bryan at the following contact info:

Bryan Chapman has indicated the possiblity of combining with Timpview....they are still at the planning stages so now would be the best time to check in with Bryan Chapman. I think it would bring many more to the reunion because there are so many that have not seen the Timpview crowd for 30 years.....

We may want to have photos of H.S. printed on our nametags. I went to Brent's 30 year reunion last year and there were some people that I had a hard time recognizing....the photos would help (Trust me!)

Let me know what you decide...I am trying to find people on facebook as well. We all need to help find contacts so that we are not waiting until May to get responses!
*Do we know the cost, time, date, and when the $ is due?
We might want to get that settled soon so people can plan ahead--especially those of us outside of Utah.

I have a hold on the Sudance venue for July 1.

to officially book it requires we guarantee a certain number of "hotel" rooms at Sundance

That is where holding the joint event with Timpview would help out, making sure we have enough rooms booked. From a social standpoint, it would be a lot of fun to do a joint deal with Timpview, we went to school with most of them.

I propose that we have a meeting ON Weds. Feb. 11 at 6 pm. at Heaps Brick Oven. I will make the reservations. Anyone who wants a phone call during this time please post it, and we will call. please RSVP if you can make it to Brick Oven. I will also contact some Timpview folks and see what they think.

I do think Carolee is right, we need some definite plans made so people from out of town can make plans.

so, unless someone else wants to do it, i am willing to take the ball and get it done, with lots of input from all of you, but at the end of the day, someone has to be responsible. your thoughts on the meeting next week ?

02/05/09 08:00 AM #18

Carolee Wilkinson (Adams)

Oddly enough I am in Utah Feb. 10-15th so I will attempt to get to Brick Oven. I am helping a friend with a reception in Orem that week so if all goes well, I'll be there. My cell phone 248-807-0542 / My mom's number 801-374-6557

Sat. breakfast or lunch works well too if people are busy on the 11th.

It would be wise to get the Timpview crew there as well so we can have definite feedback. Details for the room rates would be helpful.
Thanks

I would like to know how things go at your meeting(s). I happened to just recently bump into Kathleen Felt-Covey at Costco in Orem. I would love to reconnect. I cannot make it into town on the proposed days unfortunately. But, I would like to express my gratitude for those who are picking up the baton with this reunion. Thanks.

Sundance is locked in. Deposit is made. July 1st, Rays lawn and also the Rehersal Hall.

Could have a nice buffet dinner outside, some sort of slide show or program in the rehersal hall later.

My wife and i will make a $5,000 donation to the cause, which will pretty much take care of the facility, dinner and catering costs - estimating 200 people. any guess how many will attend ? what was our graduating class ?

there is no hotel minimum - they waived that, good lobbyist.

Rooms are $149, $159 or $169. I will see if i can't get some other sponsorships and get most of that taken care of as well - 100 couples that is only $15 Grand.

Then, we could all stay up there and have a nice breakfast in the morning as well.

If others can put a program together or whatever, my vote is mostly just want to see all of the old PHS in a nice causual setting and share a few old lies and tell some new ones.

see whomever is there at Brick Oven tommorrow at 6 pm.

somebody else can figure out if Timpview is coming or simply let all of them know about PHS and invite them.. Other option might be to invite to ours, and if they have theirs around our time, we could go to theirs.

Hopefully this is OK, Carolee and Wayne said get it locked up so out of town folks can plan.

It is so great to see what has been done thus far with the reunion. I am feeling the excitement all ready.
Have a wonderful mini reunion tomorrow at Brick Oven. Wish I could be there. Didn't John Zumbrennen's family once own the place? (Random thought).
Also I think I'm going to plan to bring my yearbook to the reunion in July because there were a lot of people that missed writing in it. Just for fun!
Anyone out there know where Val Weaver is these days?

Don,

The Class of 79 owes you a great deal of gratitude for taking the point on this and making it happen. It was great to hear you and Kathy last night on the phone live from the Brick Oven.

Who took notes? If they could get me the rundown, then I'll post the info here.

Thanks guys-wish I was there, but DC is great this time of year!

I would like to echo Wayne in thanking Donald for his kindness and his willingness to lead out with this reunion. I spoke with my husband yesterday, and he said to mark it on the calendar. I am very excited for July 1st. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
( I hope people remember who I am. I only went to P.H.S. for my senior year.)
