Susan Howes Johnson


September 11, 1961 to March 31, 2000

Dan's beautiful wife, and our loving mother, daughter, and sister, Susan Howes Johnson, 38, of Benjamin, Utah passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2000, after a very long struggle with cancer.

Susan was born on Sept. 11, 1961, to H. Reid Howes and Lucille Crowther Howes in Gunnison, Utah.

Susan was a graduate of Provo High School and was a graduate of four years of seminary in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Lyn Johnson on June 22, 1979. The were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. 

Susan served as compassionate service leader, spiritual living teacher, and Young Women's advisor for her ward. She was a very dedicated member of the LDS Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lucille Crowther Howes. Survivors are her husband, Dan Johnson, and their four children, Jessica Lyn (14), Wendy Sue (10), Glade Warren (7) and Stacie Marie (6), all of Benjamin; her father and stepmother, H. Reid and Vivian Howes of Mapleton/Spring City; brothers and sisters, Chad (Cathy) Howes of Elko, Nev; Ann (Danny) Gonzales of Mapleton; Cay (Kirk) Roberts of Springville; Ron (Liz) Howes of Price; Mark (Tracy) Howes of Spring Glen; and Tim (Mae) Howes of Spring City; mother-in-law, Joan (Shirl) Pettro of Mesquite, Nev; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ann (Dale) Lunt of Pleasant Grove; Jean Archuleta of Provo; Riley (Melinda) Johnson of Spring City; Lessa (Bob) Jacobson of Springville; Ray (Karen) Johnson of Monroe, Wash; Brian Johnson of Springville; and Karen (Scott) Barker of Santaquin; and many nieces and nephews who loved her.

That family would like to thank all of those who have helped serve Susan, Dan and their precious children throughout these difficult years.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 3, 2000, at 12 p.m. in the Benjamin 1st Ward Chapel, 3238 W. 7300 South. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 S. Main, Spanish Fork, and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Spring City Cemetery.
